Re: Getting Insurance?

I understand your frustration. I shopped around for insurance quotes weeks ahead of purchasing a new bike last summer. Even at 26 years old with no accidents/tickets *EVER* in my life and having finished MFC training courses I was floored by some of the outrageous quotes I received from several insurance companies. Geico and Progressive were some of the worst, with quotes ranging from $1500-$3200 a year depending on the type of bike. I insure my two other vehicles with Progressive (they actually beat anyone in my area for car insurance!), but that didn't seem to make any difference on the motorcycle quote.

I was just about ready to give up and put off my bike purchase another year or two when I finally called a State Farm agent. Apparently, as far as I understand, State Farm does not give quotes based on the type of the bike, but rather on engine size. I now have my '05 CBR 600RR insured with State Farm for $400/yr.

Another insurance company that gave me very good quotes was Sentry, although I know they don't offer motorcycle insurance in every state.

Oops....that should be MSF training....not MFC. Not sure what I was thinking there.
