Nothing to do with guts, only stupidity. Anyone that rides at those elevated speeds is creating a hazardous situation for himself and other road users, and by rights should have his driving privileges revoked. (Better yet, the punk needs to go to jail)

I usually ride at no more than 55-60 mph. I enjoy my ride and have respect enough for other road users not to create a dangerous situation for them.

Yes they are definitely ass candy. I get real tired of seeing 175hp bikes ridden by dudes dragging their feet until they get up to 15 mph for fear of falling. Ride what you can handle for the love of god.

With sport bikes form still follows function. A lot of people don't and aren't even capable of using it but the function is definitely there. With choppers, it's all form. Function is down the crapper.

(Now I'm talking about the $25k+ factory customs, particularly the hardtails. for example, see Iron Horse "Tejas". Not some mildly customized wide glide which is still a pefectly good motorcycle)

Insightful, well written. "Bigdx", there is a future for you in the NY Times Review of Books!

Misunderstood your 180 mph post. Thought you were saying choppers are good for driving 180 mph. I was wondering what you were smoking.

Nothing a welder, some flat stock and a drill press won't do.

I think that Texas Hardtails show is pretty good. In fact it's the only "chopper" show I bother watching now and again
