Default The value of gear

It's true that no gear would protect you from head on collision at highway speed, but a helmet might have allowed him to see the truck. I don't know what kind of eye protection he was wearing, but I think it would be easy to be blinded when acccelerating from 70mph with just Oakleys on.

Perhaps Chris will eventually recall what happened as he pulled abreast of that minivan. At the apparent speeds involved, reaction time is practically non-existent, regardless of whether he misjudged the traffic or experienced a system failure of some sort. One thing is known, however. We've got a bro here with a lot of heart.

KLRer, you are a great incouragement to me; I'm approaching 69 and just returned to riding after a 16 year period off a bike. I find now that a cruiser fits my temperment much more than the road rockets and dirt bikes of my past. Keep on riding my friend and stay young.

One of the last things to go if youre otherwise healthy is the sense of balance that keeps you upright on a motorcycle. Its kind of like golf--all about timing and balance, thats why some people play golf pretty well way into their golden years. I just ride with moderation and try to keep her upright no matter what, aware that my reflexes and ability to survive a slide arent quite what they used be.

Yes indeed, words of wisdom, it is so true! Aside from that, good on ya for still riding!
