I dislike the whole HD show, but...HD ain't going no where! They better NOT, if they did, my way of getting great deals on slightly used metrics would go down the toilet. Demand would go up on metrics and we know what happens when demand gets higher than supply. Metric dealers would do the same thing as HD dealers have done in the past. Greed knows no boundaries.

Yep.. the Electra Glide is probably one of the most practical H-Ds in their lineup. The only thing going against it really is the price.

IMO if you were buying it as a tool some of the other models such as a Fat Boy or the new Wide Glide with factory Ape Hangers are more in the toy category. (Just like using a 30mpg literbike as a tool is kind of silly)

Hell the Buell CityX is probably one of the most practical H-Ds. Cost has a lot to do with it of course and the Buells are among the most reasonable Harleys.

If I was going to buy a bike purely as a tool it would be a 250cc Honda Rebel or something just based on price and fuel economy. Almost everything else on the market from every company makes major compromises for style & performance.

Gee, my 1200R is getting over 50 MPG, doesn't leak, Meets all EPA noise level requirements, is very smooth on the road (can even use the mirrors), and the only thing that "smells" is your asinine statement.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but if I understand correctly the 2004 financial report indicates over $2 billion of "working capital". Sounds like they have a pretty decent rainy day fund to me.

Can't argue about the price and practicality of other bikes. However, I did say it was not "Just" a toy, not necessarily a "Tool" as you indicated either.

Man ,last year they showed a video on the evening news here in vegas where some cop had stopped someone in I believe in minnesota for a traffic violation,in the middle of nowhere.Anyway this turkey buzzard who had been feeding nearby, rolls up the cop, andI mean,ROLLS UP,like "wassup?" anyway the cop stops, and starts backing away. The buzzard chases him, and the cop starts running[all this is caught by the cop car's camera].next thing you see is a camera inside, the cop,s car and the buzzard popping his head up and down by the side window, looking at the cop, like he was saying "you wanna piece of me?YOU DON'T WANNA PIECE OF ME!!" The cop never got out the car! Then a week later the buzzard did it again to another cop, chasing him also into the car and pecking the glas and scratching the hood!Must be a 2% eer's pet!I swear this is true!
