Default Re: Am I the only one tired of the motorcyclist wave?

Is a nod as good as a wave ? Why don't as many Harley riders wave ? are they better than me? maybe their bike is better than mine, well then again, maybe not. The wave depends on the wavees mood. I usually try to wave, no big deal if I miss it. there will allways be another biker around the next bend. Imagine if all the cagers were waving to each other! Maybe less of us would carry Smith and Wessons. If I was broken down on the side of the road would you stop for me ? come to think of it I have never seen a biker in need of help. Maybe we should keep them longer and drive them farther.................

You poor busy guy, you must be the only one on this board that has a busy life. Here is my two cents, if you are too busy and too (or much better that other riders to bother waving), why should another rider take a second to worry about your safety. Obviously they will, but why should they bother?

I remember when I started riding bikes in the late 1960's everyone on a bike waved to each other no matter what you were on. These days it's fragmented into Harley riders , Sportbikes, BMW's, Goldwingers, Metric cruisers, etc.. I ride a sportbike, but if someone waves to me I wave back no matter what they're riding.

If you're that grumpy at 36, take some Prozac

We are a fraternity, man. One of the few left. No one need wave all the time, but enough to keep us all feeling a little bit good about each other. It may be some chopper type that stops the next time I crash my sportbike, breakdown, or run out gas. Over 40 years, I've had all three happen, and it's always been another biker that helped me out.

YES.

Now that I have answered your question, let me say that I am almost 50 and I wave at just about everybody. I wave at the sportbikers because I identify with them (my ride is a YamYZF750R). I wave at the cruisers because half of them are friendly and the other half get annoyed when a rice-burner waves at them (heh-heh). I even waved at truck with one headlight once, but it was really dark!

I thought you were talking about all those folks at stadiums, standing up with both hands held above their heads and bowing when the guy next to them bowed and then standing up straight (it's all relative) again. Yes I'm very tired of that.

The other is just a matter of preference, ability, awareness or additude.

Around here I've noticed the helmetless H-D dudes are way too cool to do it.
