I crash all the time. Slow crashes, fast ones, 3 mph low sides in Ralphs parking lots, etc. 70 mph tank slappers overs bad whoops where you wake up in the truck half a day later "wha happin?"... These all build character.

But the worst crash lately was when the mighty KZ pinned me to the garage workbench after an evening of beer drinking. It was like wrestling Moose Maloy. Thank god for crash bars, or I'd still be pinned under it.

Crashing in the dirt is better than crashing on the street you can bet. No cement curbs or Buick bumpers to get in the way.

I think short term memory loss explains why most riders get right back on the bike. That or it's too much fun to let go of.

#1) You don't know this person, what do you care whether or not he rides again

#2) Even if you did care, I guess it would depend on the circumstances of the accident. Was it due to his own negligence or lack of skill? If so, maybe he should consider giving it up. If it was out of his control, then it's up to him whether he's willing to risk having something like that happen again.

I just recently crashed at about 110mph on the racetrack and walked away. After this happened I was extremely pissed off and frustrated due to the destroyed bike and money down the drain. However, fear of injury was never a consideration whatsoever. All I want to do is get back on the track ASAP.

I would think that it has to do with a much higher probability of getting seriously hurt.

"Haven't yet wrecked a bike."

There are 2 kinds of riders:

1) Those that went down

2) Those that will

I've been riding for 7 years and been down 2 times (albeit with no injuries - slow maneuvers lol)

we had a similar discussion on the wmrra board because somebody got hurt pretty bad wheelying a scooter in the pits after the races. the discussion was how many times hasn't a crash been the result of handing somebody your beer and saying "watch this". The lesson we all learned? never, ever hand somebody your beer.
