Lots of the folks on here are not from the area, so check out www.pashinit.com and look up his reviews on our local roads. Lots of good stuff and best of all pictures!!!

I saw Feets Minert at the '72 Carlsbad USGP, riding a factory B50. He'd wait for the Suzukis and Huskys on the big uphill section, and blast by them, throwing dirt clods into the crowd.

Is Feets still with us?

I used to watch Feets in 1950/51/52, but don't know his status. He really had good balance, in addition to being fast. The good old days really were good. We used to have over 100 riders turn out for the Carrell Speedway half mile - so many we couldn't have qualifying. We even had a 50 mile point-to-point hare & hound starting in Monterey Park (I just watched part of it). It just crossed two highways (Atlantic and Garfield boulevards). Ed Kretz won a TT race held in Monterey Park about 1949 as part of city celebrations. By 1952, hare & hounds had moved to Lucerne Valley (110 miles North of Monterey Park) due to loss of desert, and the Catalina race ended in mid 50s. I was top eliminator on the Bonneville Triumph at the Pomona drags in July '52 (I beat the fastest car in a run-off) and won $37.50, which went to the bike owner. I did an accidental wheelie at about 90mph and about the same time, the car drifted into my lane and almost ran over me from behind. Luckily, I didn't know it until they told me after the race.
