I suspect the reason they are in such a poor state of tune is to sell more Screaming Eagle gear to bring the horsepower numbers to where they should be out of the box!

"Motorcycling is a lot about self expression."

I suppose. So let's see the inner self that you are expressing-

"Lots of motorcyclists express themselves by thumbing their nose at the same cage driving d0lts that thumb their noses at us. And for that reason, I get a big smile every time I set off a car alarm on some Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc. "

And I can't tell you how much the rest of us appreciate both your pipes and the car alarms when we're trying to watch TV, sleep, talk with our wives, eat a quiet barbeque outside, etc.

"We can talk all day long about how nice we could be to everyone else. But at some point you just give up and stand there with your friendly finger in there air, yelling I'm still here, doing whatever I want to do."

Being a narcissistic a$$hole, by the sound of it.

Face it. You were talking out your ass to begin with and you are still doing it. First you have to find someone stupid enough to put a pipe on without changing the intake. I don't know anyone like that. You seem to know everything, so you find someone like that and we can do the dyno, which will then show no gain or loss in EITHER direction, so you would STILL be wrong. Until then please stop talking about what you don't know.

Excellent Point. Your advice about track school seems to be very logical and no doubt any large gains in performance of the biker-rider combo are likely to come from improving the rider technique rather than changing the exhaust can. Stock sport bike are so fast these days I don't see how anyone but the most expert would be in a situation where the best investment would be a change in the exhaust.

What's not to like about a Yamaha YZ450? The sound rocks!

Default If you have some money.........

that you can afford to lose, I will put some loud pipes on my bagger and with no intake changes, show you both the baseline and piped dyno charts. If there is no dip in "low end torque", you pay for the dyno time and the pipes. How's that?

I've averaged about 2,000 miles per year of riding for the last 20 years - city, suburbs, country, highway, you name it - all on quiet bikes. I've had exactly four close calls. How are you "loud pipes save lives" jockeys riding that you get yourselves in such compromising positions so frequently?

One thing that helps me is that I use a special device anytime I find myself in a situation (overtaking, coming to an intersection, etc) where I need to get a driver's attention. It's push-button activated and is mounted on the left handlebar, in easy reach of my thumb. It's called a "horn."

Riding into work this morning (38*F outside) on my brand new CBR1000RR with it's quite as a mouse exhaust, I had Joe Bob dumbass in his truck try to swirve into my lane to get around a semi (ironicly to get behind another semi I was following). I think if I had some more noice, I wouldn't have had to hit the horn at him. I believe loud pipes save lives. I care more about my life than about the cage drivers opinions about my exhaust. I

Do yourself a favor, go here

http://www.akrapovic.si/main/catalog...ts-catalog.htm

These are fantastic exhaust systems. Now find a dyno that does not sacrifice something, somewhere in the rev range.

Good Luck!

Where is the Akrapovic for the Harley? I didn't see that one. Point it out to me.
