Default No kidding

Years ago I was traveling the country teaching practice management seminars for doctors. Part of the subject matter was how to collect payments and co-payments.



Someoone asked me how to collect payments from Canadians. In my ignorance, I asked why would Canadians come here for treatment when they get it in their own country for "free?"



I was then told that they can't get the necessary treatment due to rationing of care so they come here and pay cash which of course is illegal there.

Yup, our system's perfect. Great points Kevan. Yeah, it always seemed like HST started out thinking he had posssibly stumbled upon a new kind of journalism that might really appeal to a new set of people, and allow him to actually exert some influence. Seems he grew wackier the longer it occurred to him that the US was always going to be this way. And especially lately, that rationality was never going to prevail. Probably painful to see himself turn into an anachronism, praised by everybody but his actual message completely ignored. Hell is the impossibility of reason.

I was a big fan of his early stuff, but disappointed by what he never became. Not his fault probably. Like Brian Wilson, not made for this world really.

My criticism of one system doesn't mean I'm promoting another. I speak from practical experience on this jb.



The don't trust anyone over 30 crowd never realized that one day they'd be over 30 and running everything-and f$%cking it up just as much as their predecessors.

You will incur JB's wrath by saying anything bad about any other country, as much as saying anything good about this one. Just remember, everything sucks here and everything is logical and wonderful everyplace else and you will be OK. If only the Liberal Whiners would have made good on their promise to move out. They are too good to live here, don't ya know.

One might argue that the "new ground" broken by Burroughs, Thompson, Kerouac, et. al. was previously broken 700 years earlier in the Canterbury Tales and more recently by de Sade, Voltaire, etc.



Besides, I like Hemingway as much as I like all of the above. They are all pretty darned good.
