That's not a legend! I know a guy who had a cousin whose neighbor had a friend that was related to the guy that was fired...

Default Re: You Got That Right.

I was born in Lansing, MI so I have an admittedly irrational soft spot for the big ol' land yachts of the 70s. Most were bullet proof in their own right if you didn't load them up with too many gizmos. That being said, I nearly traded my second car (a used 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme) for a first year 280Z (75? 76?). The fact that it was a rolling bondo sculpture kept me from making that deal. My father sold Oldsmobiles, Datsuns and Toyotas in the early-mid 70s and in Michigan there were two problems with Japanese cars back then: 1)they didn't take to road salt too well so many showed significant rust within 3-4 years; and 2) someone might throw a brick through your windshield if they saw you driving it.

Default The USA has that market cornered.

If you want a chintzy car you can always buy a Concours or a Taurus or a Lumina or a Cavalier or a Grand Am.....

American automakers will always fill any possible need for really chintzy cars.

I used to go to a driving range in Milwaukee and one of the workers there had a Green LeCar with a dent in the front quarter panel. On that dent he stenciled in LeCar script, LeDent. Cute. Renaults were POSs when they were pronounced Ren-alt just as they are POSs being pronounce Ren-O.

"I guess we coulda saved a LOT of trouble, $300 billion in US tax dollars and 1,500 American lives by simply not supporting Saddam back during his war against Iran."

GOOD POINT! BUT...Then, the American Military couldn't have blown up all that stuff, using stuff that came from all those arms manufacturers based in Texas.

Hey, why don't we allow Texas to become a seperate country. They then ccould go to War, and leave the rest of us out of it. Aren't Texans supposed to love dying in battle and all that other macho stuff.
