I went with the N100 for a year, but upgraded to a Schuberth Concept. It is twice the cost but it is much better ventilated.

Good advice, but I"m all for spending the extra coin on the helmet...Your priorities are out o' whack if you can spend thousands for a bike and only afford a 150 dollar helmet.

Find one that fits. Shoei works for my head, I still dont have any complaints with my rf700, I'm looking for somthing a little lighter and better vented but its not going anywhere. HJC's gave me a splitting headache and usually wound up bungeed to the back seat...which does absolutely no good, so spend more now or let it trickle out your wallet later while "bargain hunting"

I've owned them all (seems like it anyway)! Buy a KBC. It's the most comfortable, quiet, "bang for the buck" helmet you can buy. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I can only speak from my own personal experience, and that tells me that Arai is the best for me. It's the most comfortable helmet I can find and is Snell rated to boot.

I have also owned several HJCs that were excellent. They were every bit as good as the Shoei I had, but vastly less money.

The only bad helmets I've had were Nolan (I had two of these, and couldn't get replacement parts for either right after I bought them) and a Kiwi (I'm not sure if this brand even exists anymore. Good riddance.)

I don't find that anyone at any shops that I go to is particularly knowledgeable about the helmets they sell nor able to size your head and make a recommendation about shell shape when it comes to Arai helmets.

If you're going to buy an Arai, go to an AMA race or the motorcycle show and have the Arai guy size and fit you, then buy whatever kind he recommends from the cheapest source.

I guess I've still got a long way to go before I'm a Real (tm) Biker.

In the immortal words of Monty Python: "Well spoken, Bruce!".

I could not agree more.

Looks like the HJC is now cheaper than the Nolan.

I roll with HJC. Fits great and it's quiet.

So are all you cats still skeptical of the modular helmets? My bro rides with one, and I have to admit some serious jealousy when he pops that shield up at a gas station.
