"For the record, I learned to ride on a '75 Honda CL360"

Still alive, arguing against yourself. $200 head?

LOL, you are so right. Check out the grey market bikes coming out of Japan ie. VFR400s, FZR400's etc. Fun? 18000rpm, 325lbs, and 55 mpg. Thats fun to me.

I'm with you all the way, but a Katana's STILL TOO MUCH BIKE FOR A BEGINNER!

What I don't get is why not? Here in Canada, insurance for any bike less than 400 cc displacement is about $25 a month (maybe this is BC specific) Thats some inexpensive fun combined with a high mpg mill.

The last time I checked, there was only one Max Biaggi. Few and far between you might say. And if he had never ridden a bike before and bought a 150hp Hondkawaha, he would be a danger to himself and everyone else on the road. K=1/2mv2.

Re: It's for your own good!
Funnily enough, where I'm from (Vancouver BC Canada) that debate is currently raging. There are many cases here in the last five years of dumbass kids with 'Fast and Furious' fever that have killed themselves and innocent bystanders. 'Big Brother' is looking for a way to protect them and people around them from themselves, and have actually just altered the licensing requirements here. It has received some negative feedback from - guess who - young drivers. Boo Hoo.

Well said. Common sense rears it's ugly head.

Re: It's for your own good!
This is going to get buried at the very end, and everyone else has probably moved on, but as far as I'm concerned, hell yeah!, bring on graduated licensing--that way, we'd get all the way-cool 400cc bikes that never show up here...

Um, as long as us older riders are grandfathered...

Bought a 86 GSXR 1100 off a friend. It was his first bike. Aside from two pretty grievous accidents, he rode it just fine. He's got a Honda PC800 now...

Being a little harsh on the "Hey look at me!, Please! My vehicle is big and bad, rough and tough and therefore by association so am I! crowd, eh? Signed, My bike is Mobile, Agile, Hostile, Fast and Powerfu... oh... never mind!
