Ha -- you wish. The Einsteins at ABATE spend all their energy on spreading anti-helmet blather, and now they're turning to promoting loud pipes. They'd probably want to relax licensing laws, not tighten them.

The AMA may be better -- I hope so. I think a graduated motorcycle license is an idea whose time is here, and if we don't push for it ourselves it's going to be pushed down our throats, probably in ways we won't like. Better that we do push for it and have a chance to shape it so it makes sense.

The point is we need to be responsible for ourselves and our families..... if not we will continue to lose all our freedom and our government will become more socialist and less democratic, it's definitely heading that way now.

If they do kill themselves then I feel the parents are as much to blame...... My dad would have never let me ride a crotch rocket when I was a teenager cuz he knew I would get myself in trouble.

Point taken. However, that same 45 yo is going to be a bit more conservative about riding style than the 20 yo. He will have 20 yrs of driving experience. Mistakes and accidents will always happen but if your 45 and a newbie to the sport you should, as well, live be the same licensing restrictions as a 20yo. It's not going to kill, sorry bad play on words, a guy to buy a vt750 or a vs800 and sit on it for a year before moving up to a big twin. It may even save him money after he drops it at the gas station (in front of everyone) and has to make a property damage claim. Something tells me replacing a tank on a vt is less than a tank on a roadking.

If you're a reasonable experienced rider, a big cruiser won't be difficult to adapt to. The only time you really notice the weight is in parking lots. You just have to remember that you can't lean them over as far, so adjust your corner speeds accordingly.

You'd also be surprised how quickly you can accelerate on one. I rode a Road Star Warrior last year and I was amazed that I could easily keep up with 600's. It's all about usable low-end power, and being able to use the power without looping it over backward.

I find myself agreeing with a proposed Federal requirement?

Default hold on thar bobalouie

i'll do the thinnin round here. it shouldn't be a lawyer on the front. lawyer's have notoriously bad balance and they don't take direction very well. i think it should be an emergency room doc. they all have horror stories about motorcyclists. i am mystified about why they tell everyone about the messed up motorcyclist and neglect to tell the car accident, farm accident, etc. stories. put them out front. doctors don't make mistakes and they can predict the future with perfect clarity. just ask one.

if a doctor won't do it, i propose a cpa. numbers don't lie ya know.

they should be ridin up front. but nope a lawyer, now that's just a bad idea.
