Cool post, Buzz, thanks for that.

In the '60's Dad and I would home from overseas and visit my Aunt Helen, who lived in L.A. My cousins were into hot rods and bikes (BSAs), and the Angels were a pretty hot topic for them. I remember going to the beach one day on the freeway, and seeing all the cars pulling off to the side of the road as a huge line of Angels passed by. A couple years later, my cousin Rob let me read his copy of Hunter Thompson's "Hell's Angels," which was pretty heavy stuff for a 10 y/o.

I think we (my cousins and I) idolized them to some degree. Even though we knew we'd never be like them, at some level we wanted to.

I'm pretty impressed with how "tight and right" their bikes are. For some reason I had it in my mind they rode rat-bikes, but they clearly are not.

Speaking of said Sportster, our dear LR just picked up a 65 XLCH in near stock condition.

Sounds like a kid at Christmas.

What makes these photos "rare?" Seems to me that once they put them on the Interwebs they stopped being "rare."

Aw, man...

I'd rather have Buz ragging on me for riding a girl's bike than seeing these pieces of sh!t soiling the model.

The bikes do look good, though.

Sportsters are more fun than a pillowcase full of puppies, I'm always on the look-out for a decent ironhead.

I can't believe how much I'm digging mine (well, after I ditched the crap 11" shocks). I've liked the previous bikes I've owned; I love this bike.
