HD needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Enough with the air-cooled, pushrod actuated, antique engine designs! Get with the future Milwaukee...you're being left behind like a downwind fart on a breezy day!

THAT does not appear very "Eco Friendly".
"And THRUST, is what it's all about. The Afterburner blazes at a temperature of fourteen-hundred degrees fahrenheit, spraying Fuel into the exhaust, helping generate more power...." No Catalyst? I daresay, this will NOT meet ULEV....

A unique and exciting way to deal with tailgating cagers though...

Hmmmm. Can't see the video here.
Apparently Jay Leno has bought a few front ends for the cars that got too close behind him (on his Y2K) at traffic lights. He also says that riding the bike is terrifying. While it is inconvenient to wait for the turbine to 'spool up' when grabbing some throttle, it is very unsettling to roll off the throttle, and the engine doesn't immediately come off the power.

So, is there a place for turbomachinery on motorcycles? The answer, as I see it, is MAYBE. Ford has developed a 3-cylinder, 1-liter turbocharged engine for small cars, to meet ever more draconian fuel economy demands. 3 cylinders and 1 liter total displacement? Sounds to me like a Triumph triple! It would be interesting to see what would happen if a suitably designed aftermarket turbocharger were to be fitted to various 2-wheeler engine designs. |
