Default Re: Deer

Deer will feed at night if there is enough light. Half to full moon etc. other wise they feed early in the morning, and late in the evening. The deer population in the USA is larger than it has ever been because of hunting restrictions, and lack of predators. More people are killed in encounters with deer that any other animal in the country, snakes, bears, sharks, bee allergys. A buck, in mating season will attack you, and hurt or kill you. Deer whistles work, but the deer are getting pretty used to people, cars, and the noises of civilization, so the problem will probably get worse before it gets better.

Go ahead and hit the deer! (Or anything else, especially if you're in a motorcycle over 600 lbs, car, SUV, Semi, etc., but stay in your lane.)

Niccolo Macciavelli said it:

It is best for a ruler to be loved and feared the both. But failing the lofty mastery of it, if he must choose but one, he must choose to be feared. For the ruler that is loved but not feared shall rule not long, but the ruler that is feared and not loved may rule many years, and do much good to his people, though they see it not, but God will see his works.

I must disagree, Sir.

Young and ignorant can be corrected with some number of yeas under one's belt.

But young and stupid makes old and stupid every time.

(Being flippant, I might say I could provide you with 535 examples.)

Anybody know how Matt Gigos is doing? Best I could come up with after some Web searching is he has a spinal injury - and a note on one site that he is paralyzed.

Default Shyt Happens

So don't knock him, everybody's done something a little crazy, and most alot crazier than just racin some backroads. He got unlucky. So all you haters shut your holes, and everybody else take it as a lesson learned.

It will be interesting to hear from the passenger and in particular, whether he confirms the deer story.

I live in the foothills of mt. Rainier right at the base of Chinook pass. The greenwater herd winters in this area so you see them quite a bit on the pass. Seeing 5 or 6 on the side of the road while you fly past about 90mph really puts the fear in you.
