Default Wash State Speed Enforcement vs Maryland

Trooper clocks motorcycle at 152 mph on two-lane highway | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Weather - Seattle, Washington | News

Speed in Maryland - get drawn on and arrested if you complain.

Speed faster in Washington - Get a lecture and a ticket.

Last time I got popped was for 93 in a 60 on my Dyna, the WSP Trooper knocked it down to 10 over so I wouldn't get hit with a reckless driving......Nice guy, called me Sir and everything.

I was tagged by a MSP trooper at a VASCAR speed trap with my little sister in the car (I was probably 22, she 16) driving a Jeep with skis on the roof. I certainly looked like a punk-ass kid. He was friendly, respectful, and I got a warning and a be safe.

The county cops have never been so generous with me...

I have a theory that State Troopers are much nicer than Sheriffs and city cops because of their customer base. The Troopers tend to "work" with ordinary citizens who are simply speeding or the like. The Sheriffs and cops are dealing with criminals all day... By the time they get to a regular citizen, their perception of the population is seriously skewed.

That theory doesn't hold-up here in "flyover country" - the crime rates are low, especially when compared to Miami (or for that matter - any city in Florida with a population over 15k), yet most of the "townie cops" and county-mounties are F-Bomb'n Flamin' D!ckasaur-asses. Even when they let you go.

Yet in Utah I've met only one real @sshole cop in a dozen tickets since 1980. Every other cop was courteous and professional and wrote the ticket for less speed than I was traveling.
