VW Buys 20 Percent Stake In Suzuki

BusinessWeek is reporting that VW has purchased twenty percent of Suzuki for $2.5 billion dollars.

According to the reports, what interested VW most in Suzuki was the Japanese manufacturer's emerging market automobile factories and the like.

I always like the Suzuki Samurai jeeps. There were a couple around in Central Florida that I saw driving through some really extreme off-road stuff. Never really looked at their cars though.

Yeah, but don't forget the torque curve designed to push a 2000 pound car. If you wanted you could put the usual VW goodies on it and get another 30 hp.

People buy horsepower, but they ride torque.

VW built Brazilian air-cooled Beetle motors until just a few years ago. I hear that VW has a working "in-line" twin turbo motor that will crank out about 135hp. Wonder that that's all about? Pretty small car or working on their first bike project- your guess is as good as mine.
