I see limited usefulness in these machines, given the current (sorry) State-O'- the -art in batteries, but as a gearhead, I'm fascinated.

At the top is a window showing a short video of a couple of the contenders on the course. Awesome!

As I understand it, the electric bike race will be one circuit (lap) of the course, or 37-some odd miles. There's something like 17 teams registered.

What do they have against carbon fiber? I thought it was lightweight and strong.
