Hey everyone lil' about myself, my name is Jessica I'm 19 years old and living in the big Apple. Since I was little I loved motorcycles specifically sport bikes. I don't want to get my permit until I know more about them, are their any good books that will help me get a better understanding of motorcycles? Anything will do I appreciate the help.

Hello Jessica.

Look up Total Control by Lee Parks, Proficient Motorcycling and also More Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough, and Twist of the Wrist II by Keith Code. I ranked them in my "personal favourite" order, but you'll likely get the most out of the first two books.

I also recommend you take an MSF Beginning Rider Course before purchasing a motorcycle - you seem to be a probable future moto-junkie, but occasionally people actually GET on a moto and decide that it really is not "for them".

Taking the course will introduce you to the actual mechanics Motorcycling in a safe, controlled environment for a relatively small fee.

I predict you will enjoy the course, and many years of riding in the future.

Good Luck, and welcome to Our World.

You are safe from the AirHawk. He lives in Missouri and seldom leaves his cave.

Jess,

+1 on the above posts.

Also, check out the "New Rider" thread on the site. Lots of good info.

My favorite motorcycle book is called Superbikes of the Seventies by Roland Brown. All the bikes I drooled over as a teenager, well written, great photos and a short road test and history of each bike. It's an excellent read in my opinion.

Do you like to watch gladiator movies? Do you ever get out toward Lyndhurst?

Thanks,

HEY! I am NOT leghumping here! Just being my nice, helpful self! I haven't even seen a pic of her yet - and besides: I leave the cave every day to forage for berries and walnuts, and brain the occasional Tourist that wanders into my woods............
