So I'm already going to take the course because really its a great option learn the basics and it counts towards a license which is really nice. Its law for a helmet in my state so obviously im getting one. I was just wondering what a good first bike would be. When i search on craigslist i find alot of cheap bikes but they always look like they have been beat to hell and back. Cracked, dented, scratched, engine is on its final legs. i just want a sub 3500 dollar bike that will be in good shape and good fun which to me it appears alot of 02-03 sv650s come up in that area alot any help? Sorry that this question is probably really over asked.

Read the New Rider sticky. Search the threads for "first bike". Do your homework! (which means, do the first two things I just said). Don't be a lazy *&!.

No, you are not a special case. Yes, I know. Everyone thinks they are a special case.
Good move taking the MSF course. |

Is there a particular type of bike that appeals to you? The broad catagories are:
Cruisers - Sport bikes - Standards - Dual Sport/ADV If the SV650 appeals to you, the best starter in that catagory is probably the Ninja 250.

Yes......if you had taken just a few minutes to look at the discussions already on here, you would have known that for sure.
The answer mostly never changes. Please read the existing threads and get back to us.
