hmm talked to a co-worker who rides, told me it is a great road for the weekend but that he has had 3 friends die on it. so at the very least not something to attempt alone.

I've been wanting to ride the "tail of the dragon" in North Carolina. It's 1 of the top 10 motorcycle destinations in the US, but a rock slide closed it this year and they "hope to have it opened up by November"

I think you are experiencing what we call "REO Syndrome" you know. heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from another.... I don't know any road around here except Highway 18 where "3 friends died on it". I've ridden that one a few times, it's your basic Washington back road... slippery muddy spots from Log Trucks pulling out and watch out for deer and elk.....You're probably safer there than riding around Seattle or Tacoma.

Yes. The most dangerous thing you can encounter on the highways is Cagus Domesticus.

Followed by Cagus Operatus Asianus or DWA which while it may be more of a West coast problem is still a major hazard in urban areas....

In LA it's Cagus Operatus Chinus that poses the greatest danger. The Cagus Operatus Nipponus is indistguishable from the garden variety Cagus Caucasus Domesticus. Don't get me started on Cagus Mexicanus though. Fortunately most of them live in Buz's neighborhood.

Specific to Seattle and the east side is Cagus Liberalus Selfrightous, generally found going 5 miles under the posted speed limit in a Prius or Outback
