Downshifting

As far as knowing what gear you're in, not sure if it was made clear above, but I can ususally tell by looking at the speed-o-meter and then the tach-- certain speed/RPM combinations correspond to a particular gear. It takes some time on the bike before you become familiar with those combinations.
