Excellent choice! That bike will have plenty of power for your first year or two. Spend this time focusing on your developing your skill.

Sartorius, glad you stuck it out. Too many riders or newbs come here looking for "advice" when what they really want in approval to buy a bike waaaaaayyyy beyond their capabilities. The resident MOfos won't give bad advice, just good advice with a pinch of wit and a dash of sarcasm. I'm glad you saw the knowledge for what it was -- knowledge.

Stick around a while. Share with us your experiences learning riding on your new bike.

It is kind of a personal decision.
There is nothing inherently "wrong" with a carb.

FI is usually a little more reliable, needing virtually NO routine maintenance. A carb needs little; a dose of cleaner a few times a season usually keeps it running good.

If you are ready to buy and found a bike you like at a good price.........I certainly wouldn't let carb paranoia stop me.

FI bikes run a little smoother when cold and no choke to mess with. Other than that its not a big deal. Personally I can work on a carb, FI, not so much.
