That's a full-size cruiser. It's a lot for a starter bike.

It's got what? Maybe 35hp? 40? Should be a pretty decent beginners bike if you ignore the excess weight.

Out of the 250cc bikes, the Ninja 250 kicks the Super Sherpa's @ss. So, you're looking at either the Ninja 250 for $4K or the Ninja 500 for $5.5K. For my money, and considering your size, you can't do much better for a first bike than the Ninja 500. (Forget the Honda Aero. It weighs too much and the two guys I know that had one got rid of it pretty quickly after outgrowing it.) Question: Why must you get a new bike? The prices you quote are all new. Why wouldn't you just get a used bike? Here, where I live, you can get a used Ninja 500 for about $2500 to $3000 in decent condition.

Eh, maybe. at your size get a USED ninja 500, Craigs list, ebay (local listings) and MOST dealers have some used stuff. Its been the same damn bike forever, its bigger than the 250, so it will be easier to spend more time on. DONT get a shadow, heavy bike = more falling. The best bet is to ignore any friends you have that ride. Go sit on a ninja 500. see what you think. (sit on a new one if you have to) Remember, this is a 1st bike, you will drop it and probably sell it in the next 2 years.
