You're Smart. Smart-enough to learn.

I think you'll Live.

Be careful out there - and: Enjoy the Ride!

Thumbs up wow- thank you all...

i just read through i ton of the posts for those of us just getting into motorcycle buying/riding. it is funny as to how much i have learned in such a small amount of time about the thoughts and facts of starting off. the amount of kids on here (actual kids and adults alike) not wanting to learn from what the experienced on here are saying is quite funny to me.

i, too, started off window shopping for a really insane choice motorcycle (Honda's CBR Repsol edition to be precise- and i was looking to buy new (i am serious)). i now think about that and realize the idiocy of what i was thinking. i have never driven a motorcycle, but somehow believed that i would be different and i would be able to "control" the bike and myself in liu of buying this awesome piece of art. somehow i would be fine riding this amazingly POWERFUL and especially deadly machine and would neither hurt myself nor effect another as i crashed into whatever happened to be around me (likely within the first 1/4 mile of leaving the place i bought from).

i am now looking at a real set of choices to be made for a beginner such as myself. i really do not need to ask for opinions after reading so much from so many that are kind enough to state their opinions on here (and i must say one of the biggest things to alter my thinking was the youtube video of the idiot on the sport bike losing control and crashing within 100 feet). i know the answers that will come up: start small, buy used (expect to drop the bike at least a few times), and use whatever cash you save on good gear for riding for it will help save us to be able to survive and keep riding.

edit: i accidently hit post thread while reading through what i was posting.

basically what i wanted to write is a thank you to all that are helping us get into motorcycle riding. i really do appreciate the help you are giving and most of all the slamming you are giving out to those that are not listening. we, as a whole, sometimes need to get this pounded through our thickened skulls to be able to learn. that video was a great thing for me to see. kind of like when you think it would be a great thing to get into a street fight, but then watch a ton of videos on youtube that shows differently. in the fight of a bike power v person on the bike the motorcycle ALWAYS wins.

to any new person that made it through this admittedly long post: listen to these people on here. they are not getting paid to help- they are all doing it because they care enough. the most insulting a person can be is to say nothing...

korie, korie, korie...

You're just not going to fit in around here.

You make WAY too much sense, and you seem to want to apply logic where it is not wanted.

But, if you do decide to stay with our Happy Little Band, then Welcome!

Why has no one brought up the "Boss Hoss" here? I'm disappointed in someone...

A keeper I think.

Now what do you think about fiscal policy, I keed, I keed.

Bring a little thick skin and eventually you'll find these Mo'rons a welcome part of daily life.

Some of 'em are pretty smart. That list is a well kept secret.

i love the brow beating on forums. keeps things interesting as well as it puts things in persepective at times. i fully expect to ask some questions that have been answered so many times it will be frustrating for some of the regulars on here, and i know it can and will get harsh at times. that to me is part of the learning of anything. but as always when you truly wish to learn about anything you will keep going forward.

in fact i found a link that may help some others like me as well as some of the people on here from saying the same tired song:

GOOD FIRST MOTORCYCLES

i hate to post outside links when i am not too familiar with the thoughts of particular forums on outside links, but i hope this may help some people all the same. i am still reading it, but halfway through i thought to post it here for all that come here.
