2002 Kawasaki ZZ-R1200

I recently took a ZZR1200 for an extended test ride. By the time I got back I found that my knees and lower legs were getting very hot both from my knees touching the frame (I'm 6'3" tall) and from hot air blowing back from the lower fairing. I really like the bike but don't want to cook my legs on every ride. Has anyone else had this problem or found a solution?
