The last bike I owned was a 1974 XL125 K0. That bike was bullet proof. I really like the looks and specs of the CRF230M. Is this bike as reliable as the old XL's? Would it be a good fit to ride mostly on less-traveled state highways and back roads, sometimes as much as 300-400 miles per day, mostly in southeastern US? Thanks for all replies.

No. It's a pretty weak engine. A Suzuki DR400 would be a better choice.
