86 VF700C Magna clutch takes late
Long story short, got a good deal on the bike but some routine maintenance has been neglected.
The fluid was nasty and almost black with some crud in it. I flushed the system completely and put all brand new DOT4 in and bled it completely. There isn't any air in the system that I can find at all.
The clutch lever is firm and working as it should, disengaging the clutch when pulled, but herein lies the problem. After I first bled it, it was very responsive. The moment I started releasing the lever it started to take. Now, its back to almost the way it was before. You have to release the lever 3/4 of the way out or so to get it to take.
Any ideas? I read somewhere people were having problems with the return port getting plugged up but it doesn't seem like that would apply here, since it is engaging and disengaging, its just you have to release the lever nearly all the way to get it to take. I'm lost. Suggestions are much appreciated.
