If it was running just a little on the rich side, none of those symptoms are likely to be present. Changing from a stock to an open air filter really doesn't alter the mixture THAT much. And lastly, at idle is where the stock mixture is usually the leanest.....because of a "quirk" in the way the EPA testing specs are written......and that is where you usually see an immediate benefit from a slight shift toward rich. I vote, as always, to NOT screw with it any more after it is good.
