76 CB200T Power Loss
Hi guys.

I just bought a '76 200T with 2400 miles on it. It seems to run pretty well, cruises around fine in around town speeds. It does though tend to die when idling for a few minutes if I don't give it some extra gas (idles at around 1500 RPM, but then drops lower after a minute or so and then dies).

The more disturbing problem is the lack of power when it gets up to speed. Seems to accelerate pretty well from take-off (maybe a little sluggish), but kind of hits a wall around 45 MPH. The throttle won't respond much to go beyond 6,000 RPM in 5th gear.

I don't know a thing about any of this stuff, but if someone can point me to some tests or something, I'll dig out the Clymer manuel and get to work.

Sounds like a fueling problem. A blocked fuel tank vent will cause strangulation at higher rpms. So might a blocked fuel filter. Might need a carb cleaning too.

I remember those when I was in High School, neat little bikes. Once you get the bugs out it should be a good town bike
