Default Buying used 2001 Honda 1100

I have the opportunity to purchase a used 2001 Honda 1100 with ~22,000kms for fairly cheap. I have not had a chance yet to inspect the bike for problems or take it for a test ride, but I do have a question before I do all that.

Is 2001 too old to be buying as used? Should I stick more with more recent years?

Can I expect a reasonably well-maintained/taken care-of 2001 to work properly and last me a while?

You should get 100K or more out of any medium to large displacement motorcycle these days. There should be plenty of life in that bike. Unless it's been obviously abused.

Agreed, the ST1100 is an excellent bike, you should get plenty of use out of it provided it was maintained correctly.

Well to be clear it's the Shadow... but yea I'm glad for your comments.

The seller also owns another motorcycle which he is selling so that he can buy a new one, and they both look like they are in immaculate condition based on the pictures (one of them is a Harley).

I can't wait to look at it later today!

As a follow up, here are some pictures of the bike
Dropbox - Photos - Secure backup, sync and sharing made easy.

I had it safetied and the tech said compression and carbs were fine, tires are brand new, everything else is perfect. Oil is clean.

Was pretty much a steal for $3500 considering it's accessories especially!
