That's my new favorite wikipedia entry.

I disagree. Honda already make an 800(ish) street bike. Granted it's more sport-tourer these days, but the real reason that sales of the VFR have slowed down isn't primarily because it's underpowered (strictly speaking, 95-100ish hp for the street is fine, it's underpowered for the marketing dep't), it's because for all the bad-ass sounds it makes with a nice pipe, it's darned expensive to maintain.

800, whatever the power, will never have the torque or the bragging rights that an inline litre-four has. The parts reduction and simplicity of inline engines (just think of cams, valve covers, heads) are a hard argument to beat when it comes to mass-producing consumer level bikes for the street.

Unless it's advanced oil drilling techniques or missle defense.

Then, IT CAN'T WORK!

The main problem with Buell's are:

1) The crap engine; and,

2) Not enough mass in the brake (low heat capacity --->>> can lead to fade).

The rest of it is sweet, although some of it IS gimmicky.

Default Buell Validaton......

Now if I can just find somebody that makes a conversion to stick a 150 hp liquid cooled v-4 in my Lightning, I'll be in good shape!

Wikipedia. I'm a multi-red-stater (FL, CO and VA). They teach us how to spell, but it's a closely held secret - usually, in public, we're encouraged to act like rubes.

Default You haven't ridden one, have you?

Brakes do NOT fade, even with beating the CRAP out of em, and according to a major print magazine, the XB12 lightning is only 8/100 ths of a second slower in the quarter mile than a V-MAX!!!

Go ride yours.
