I think some of you are missing the point of a CVT. It's more than just another name for an automatic.

I think it's pretty well suited to a motorcycle. You're talking about never having to shift mid-corner. That's more important to sport riders than the average cruiser/tourer.

Obviously, this is never going to appear on a true sportbike because of size and weight, but if you look at the pictures, this is clearly a touring oriented machine.

Absolutely, that's why. Good call. I've seen the same information. It totally makes sense now that fewer and fewer people even drive cars with manual transmissions. The prospect of learning to ride a motorcycle with a manual transmisssion is terrifying to most.

Sh*t, most people I know are terrified to drive a car with a manual tranny.

You know ,I wondered why honda did not put any significant amount of bikes this year.My thought is that yeah ,Honda is not stupid. They see the amount of scooters being bought, and those being put off because people want a more "motorcycle" looking ride.A buddy of mine gets so tired of reading in the moto mags,[including this one],about his silverwing being called a scooter. He has logged over 13,000 miles in a year, gone on 600 mile a day trips, and tells me that people on all sorts of bikes, including harleys stop and compliment him, andask what is it,and then think about buying one as a second bike.As for relabilty issues ,I think that honda may have it so that you can go to your dealership[car] to have them serviced.I had talked to a major honda dealership owner here in the west and he was telling me that honda was thinking of doing this expanding their dealerships to include servicing bikes.Evolution stops for no one....

Revelation, in a good or bad sense? Seriously, I have to put up with some of the worst daily traffic on the planet.

Whats up is that also those who are not able to shift can dress up in neon gear and ride around in cool looking sports bikes.

Terrific. Now you won't even have to develop the skill required to shift to get on a sportbike.

Teknoman, I take it you're unfamiliar with 4 speed manual shift scooters like the Vespa and Lambretta. They're torquey little sum*****es and wheelie pretty easy. And when you hop 'em up as I've done they'll wheelie in the first three gears and do 75 mph. Fun aint the word for 'em.
