Oh, no no no. Some Traction Control systems were tried several times in motorcycles. So far, none has performed well. The problem is that when the wheel starts spinning. the power is decreased, then the wheel grips causing massive problems. (highsides and such) I think it may be a few years away for traction control, but who knows? maybe honda has figured out a smoother way of doing it.

I would love to hear a racebike with a 18,000 redline. The only such bike so far i have heard of is the Kawasaki ZXR 250 (not avail. in US, or any 1st world country that i know of) I wonder how far off that is from GP if they do have pneumatic valve actuation. (BTW, check out this ZXR @ http://www.ninja250.com then click on "Ernesto" in the pictures section. Sadly, there are no pictures of the dash on there anymore, but I did see one before. This bike has a reline of 18.5 K)

Speaking of F1, I hear that Renault is rumoured to be working on a 20,000 RPM redline engine.

Sound is a HUGE part of a motorcycle. It's not noise. There's nothing like the thump of a big single, the rumble of a V-4, the pure, sweet, low sound of a V-twin, the whine of an inline 4, and as long as were talking about sounds, how 'bout the sound of a Formula 1 car doing 18,000 rpm down the front straight at indy?

There's more to come from 4-strokes.

Why does everyone say that Doohan era racing was dull?

GP racing was never dull when Doohan was dominant. Maybe talking about the results, or who might win the next weekend was dull, but that's about it. Racing is, in a way, more dull now that Doohan is gone. Its like Everest is now about 1,000 meters lower.

Why does a good sound have to be a loud sound? Riding is an experience of the senses. Imagine not being able to feel acceleration or cornering forces. The sound is a big part of riding, and spectating. I get a big smile every time a TL-R or Ducati goes past my corner at the track.

"Society" will legislate you right out of a motorcycle if you let them. Ralph would just love that.

So cool!

Honda's V-5 vs. Yamaha's V-3

Who will be the winner?

I wish CBR929 will be powered by this cool engine.

hackfu,

"like on some current brake calipers where two outer pistons are larger or smaller than the inner one "

Did you mean to say "leading/trailing"?

I wasn't aware that brake calipers had "inner/outer" pistons.
