Well there you go.

So now you've advertised what a successful company they are, are they going to give you bikes?

Wow, 8 million motorcycles and only 2.9 million cars. I had no idea there was that big of a difference in unit sales. I wonder how many of those 8 million units were scooters.

Interesting numbers, if accurately quoted:

Motorcycle sales of 8 million units, with revenue of 8.1 billion dollars. That's a little more than $1000 a unit - mopeds, if that! How many tiddlers do the have to sale to compensate for one Winnebikeo?

Auto sales of almost 3 million units, with revenue of 54 billion. That's $14,000+ a unit, and makes a lot more sense.

Hmmm, are they counting Goldwings in the Automobile category?

nah...you're forgetting the $120 quarts of specialised motorcycle oil...and other cool stuff like $6.50 crush washers...$27.95 oil filters...all that stuff makes up the difference.

Over 3 million a year are SuperCubs...

Over 3 million a year are supercubs alone, entirely for second and third world markets.

There is a reason why not only is the Cub the best selling motor-vehicle of all time, the sales keep increasing.

nweaver 05-08-2003 07:22 AM

SuperCubs are BIG overall

The supercub design alone is 3 million a year, and selling price for 2nd/3rd world nations is far less than $1000 each, often $750 or less.

Of course, if you "ONLY" net $100 selling a vehicle, selling 3 million gives you a profit of $300 million, which even for a company like Honda isn't chump-change.

Congrads to Honda.

Honda sells 8,080,000 units vs. Harley's target production of 290,000 units for next year. Kind of puts things in perspective. Honda has made the world better in autos, motorcycles, and power equipment by iHonda's never ending prusuit of quality. Honda is able to produce quality products with American labor and engineers etc. If your are a MBA canidate you need to take a look at Honda's management style. It is sure easy for American management to blame American labor and ship manufacturing overseas. Honda bucks the trend and still wins.

Thanks Honda for making the world better
