Honda is bringing the DN-01 to the US
 
Just found this and thought it's interesting that Honda has decided to bring their weird future-cruised DN-01 to the US markets. I saw one of these in London in the flesh and I'm still not sure whether I like the looks or not.

600+lbs. 680cc. The engine supposedly makes 61hp. Which I assume means about 50hp at the tire. 15 grand.

Also, a review stated "so think of this machine as a bridge between large maxi-scooters and entry-level sportbikes like the Ninja 500 or GS500."

Unfortunately all of those examples listed have a 50-75% smaller MSRP. Not a good marketing strategy.

Uses the the 52-degree 4-Valve V-Twin out of the Dullsville, minus the 5-speed manual gearbox (which is merely an update to the 3-Valve 52-degree twin in the Revere, which is based on the HawkGT motor, minus the SSSA and chain drive)

(and also minus a whole-lotta charm and Cool)

The Shadow VLX uses that 3 valve 52-degree V from the TransAlp - minus about 20 hp. I wonder if it's related to this 680cc beast.

Let's see, less than 60hp at the wheel, over 600lbs and overpriced; sounds like the perfect bike for Anrajala to b!tch about inbetween dropping it every ten feet.

So, does this mean HDs aren't overpriced anymore?

In short: yes. All of Honda's "compact" 52-degree V-twins are related, though they may only have a few parts that interchange - the PC800 engine is also from that same family, though you have to squint to see the resemblance from the cylinder-deck up.....

I think it's an excellent decision and with Honda's forward thinking and reputation for stylish, innovative and reliable designs such as the Fury and Rune all being offered at a reasonable price should sell like Handi-Wipes at a High School porno mag convention
