Default size on a ninja

New to the forum, hello everyone. My question is do you think a 270lb man puttin around on a Ninja 500R or even a 250R is dangereous? I have been out of riding a long while but always maintain my Motorcycle License and in the past had either a street bike or access to one and Ive never owned anything smaller than a 750 on the street but the other night I putted around on a buddies little Ninja 250R the other day and it was a blast. The price of these little gems for what I plan to do on them is just right, would it be wise or a stupid disaster waiting to happen because of my size?

Seems like your ok with it? Sounds to me like you answered your own question. Truly it depends on what your going to do with it. In town roads would be perfect for this application. Although it will do (08?07?EX250) highway speeds I would reccommend keeping an eye on oil levels if you are going to do alot of commuting on the highway. Be sure to know the bikes limits and what it can do and can't do. Other
than that you should be safe.

Just remember that when your gf gets the bike bug and buys a Ninja250 for herself she'll be kickin' yer @$$.

Your weight is 80% of the bike's: the published spec is 333 lbs for the 250R. Riding it might not be unsafe per se, but you're going to be wearing out suspension, brakes, and tires a lot faster than would a more typical rider. Gross Vehicle Weight is 850 lbs, so you have some room to work with there. If you like it, ride it!

Should this come to pass you must stop and give thanks for being blessed.

You could mix in a salad every now and then and this question wouldn't need to be asked.

You are right about that and I currently am working on it and having been a Marine I know exactly what needs to be done, however in the process, I still would like to ride now and then while I reach my 210 weight.

I bought an 08 250R as my wife's starter bike, and became addicted to the little thing while I was doing the break-in. I'm 6'05" and weigh 245 lbs. I naturally look a little large on the bike, but actually find it quite comfortable and don't feel it is in any way unsafe. I've ridden cruisers for years and still put most of my miles on my Softail, but it's fun to take the little Ninja around town. The bike handles great and has just enough power to be fun.

A 270 pound man on a Ninja500 is certainly less dangerous than a 270 pound man on a Ninja1000.
