I have to cast my vote for custom made. I had mine made for me when I was in Korea in'89. I stillwear it (yes it still fits & I weigh the same)lol.
I ride a cruiser, so I have a 50's style jakcet with 12 solid brass zippers & matching chaps.

I don't what?
What could you possibly say that would make me go KPaul-Lame?! DO IT! Come on! Don't keep the venom in! It's more fun getting it out of your system. |

two piece is more convenient, obviously, and some two-piece suits are nice. I have a Vanson two piece and it works well for me. Very convenient and flexible.
But you need to go one-piece if you plan on doing track days. Many tracks will not allow two-piece, even when zipped together. Best to go one piece so you're covered for sure. I think you'll know whether you need perforated or not. You might need both if your clime and riding habits dictate it. A bit loose is better than tight; you'll probably gain a little weight over the years. Leather will both expand and contract as it molds to fit you. You don't want it LOOSE though, obviously. Regarding manufacturers, just be sure to either go custom or try on what you're buying. Then you'll have no worries. I also have found that the higher cost of custom or semi-custom suits (Helimot, Vanson) is worth it. You'll save money in the long run, because you won't be juggling gear in search of the perfect setup. You'll just have it. And who can argue against Aerostitch? If you commute or ride in bad weather it's perfect. BMW earns high marks in that dept. as well. As for me, nothing beats the protection, security, and comfort of well-fitting, armored full leather. |
