Oh, yeah - you can expect 7,000 to 11,000 miles from a rear, add those two together for a front.

If you're not stoopud, they stick as well as anything.

They also have race-compounds for you budget-trackday-junkiez, Yo!

I get about 3-4000 out of my tomahawk tires. 03 Z1000. I run the bike pretty hard.

I've gotten over 4,000 miles out of a pair of Bridgestone Battle Axe BT-020's. They are a dual compound tire which means that they have a softer compound on the sides with a harder compound in the middle which is right where the big flat spot develops on every bike, no matter what. Metzler and Michelin now have dual compound tires but that's it as far as I know. I ride an '03 FZ1 which comes with R1 wheels brakes and motor so all of the R1 tire choices are available to me. I once got over 9,000 miles on a pair of Dunlop 220 radials. They work well in the rain. I use them all winter long then switch over to the Bridgestones. In the summer I switch to over to Pirelli Diablo's just because it's summer time and hot out. By the end of Sept. I'm back on Bridgestones. With an R1 you might like the BT-14's from Bridgestone even better. The life expectancy might be less though.

I've got the same bike, but my rear tire last at least twice as long. The MT-21 on the back of my DRZ400S... about a year of hard on/off road entertainment.

Hi Matthew,

I have well over 3000 miles on the tires that I bought for my 1966 Bultaco Campera from JC Whitney. I bought trials tires for it and a company called Cheng Shin made them. The tires work just fine and I have out run a few big bikes on the twisties in my area. I really should replace the rear tire because its a little squared off but at $36.00 each I think I will just run them until the cords show.

Dave.

I've used Battle Axe BT-020's on my FZ1 as well, but due to the suggestions on yamahafz1oa.com I think I'll try Pilot Roads next.

Erm,.... ah (cough!)

Sorry!

The Wife just walked-over and biotch-slapped all that out of me.

It's OK: the keyboard and monitor caught most of the teeth, and the carpet was Scotchgarded(tm) last week, "Just in Case".
