If you ate sausage and peppers for breakfast you wouldn't be too happy either. And neither would anyone else around you.

There are two 600cc 'sportbikes' you might want to look at. Yamaha YZF-600R and Kawasaki ZZR-600. They are no longer on the cutting edge of sportbikerdom, thus relatively inexpensive, and proven designs. The ergos are not as extreme as the current crop of 600s. The Yamaha FZ-6 is not a 'sportbike' per se, but it is sporty and will be more comfy 2 up. There are other sporty standards out there that might work for you too. An older FZ-1 is a good used bike choice. I'll suggest a BMW Rockster too, I ride one and love it. Looks funky and works great whether you are scratchin', cruisin', or tourin'. Used ones can be found pretty cheap too.

good point the ZZR-600 is what used to be the ZX6R from 2000-2003 I think. My 01 ZX6R is relaxed and has ergos much like the VFR. I don't think a passenger would enjoy it though.

Joke. The Michael Douglas part, not the fat part.

I guess I could have bullshytted him and told him that 'comfort is relative' and 'take a look at this bike' but the plain fact is that sportbikes were made for racetracks and not carrying passengers long distances. I guess being honest has its drawbacks!

Quit the griping and get out here. The corn will be in full bloom in couple months.

Since you specifically asked about 600cc sportbikes, and you never said anything about really long rides, I'm going to second Mitctho on the Yamaha YZF-600R. It's always been known as the best sport-tourer of the 600 sportbike class. And it's still an a**-kicker riding solo.
