As I have no idea how he's wired the lights, this could be so.
It might be something as simple as a ground-loop that's feeding-back into the oil light. Fixing the lighting to be on it's own circuit, with it's own ground wire (to a single point on the frame, preferrably where the system grounds) could fix it. So far as the oilpump losing prime; it did it twice on my Wife's EX500 - and I've been told it's a common problem with them, if you drop the bike (or apparently, do as I did and interrupt the oil change). I have no idea if it's a problem on any other Kawis.

I think it's a spin-on filter on this bike. The EX500 is, but I think the EX250 is separate (mem'ry is furry on that one).
