Damn son, I ALWAYS call and get a quote on several models before I buy a new/used bike. Different insurers do classify them differently sometimes.

It happens. I've had trouble with individual agents - some people just shouldn't be in "service industry" jobs.

State Farm as a company has always done OK by us - just expensive (unless you've multiple discounts) is all.

What happens if his Garage is Burglarized? Or there's a catastrophic Fire destroying all his motos?

Progresive hooked me up with my speed triple, little over 300 a year for comp and liability, (no colision) I have a clean record, good credit and a low theft area, which all help alot more than what the bike is clasified but no other insurance rate even came close regardless of the deal I get through geico on my auto insurance. good luck, it always seems to me the insurance agents are more selling snake oil than having an easy to decifer rate scedule

I had the same problem when I purchased a new FJR 1300--Progressive considered it a sport bike !!! My agent found me a new company that didn't. The company is called Foremost, and they have been wonderful.

Hit a deer last year, but kept the bike up. $ 1,800 worth of fairing damage and Foremost had the check in the mail within a few days.

They didn't raise my rates after that either !

Best M/C insurance I've ever had.

What type of damage did you take from hitting a deer? Any broken body bits?

Considering you didn't mention it, I'm guessing you made out quite well.

Four years ago I bought a BMW R1150RT. I expected to pay approximately $500-600 for good coverage. I got a rude awakening when my Progressive quote turned out to be $1150. I checked with GEICO and the got me at $550 and am now at $350. So simple even a 56 year old could do it. While I haven't made a claim, they are very courteous and helpful when I have an inquiry.

Progressive's website quoted me $5000 a year for a KLR 650 and a year later on my BMW K1200RS at $5500. Needless to say I dont even waste my time with Progressive. I got the KLR for $318 a year and $500 a year for the BMW through Farmers, though I insure everything, home, auto etc through farmers. Need to compair at st farm though.

$5000????? For a KLR?!?!

You could just by another KLR as a backup incase of a wreck for that type of money.
