It's a factory warranty so Kawasaki and the dealer network HAVE to honor it.

Does anyone really race ZRX's? Tough bike to hustle at the track.

It's only the money we're worried about here. I imagine that we all can agree on the fact that the bike it self is a fine ride- right?

As the happy owner of an '02 ZRX I would say go for it, if the price is right. Many valid points have been brought up not the least of which is that "good" used ones are out there, cheap. The same can be said for a Bandit 1200, a "sister ship" or kindred spirit of the Rex.

How much are they asking?

Also remember if you go to sell it any time soon, no one will be willing to pay more than the going rate for a 2004 model at best. What does your insurance company value the bike at? I'm just thinking if you wreck it, they may give you the book value on a 5 year old bike instead of a new one.

The newness means almost nothing. Properly maintained everything but the shocks, maybe, and the normal consumeables, chains tires, should be good for 70K miles or more. If you really want one of these things I'd bet you can find a real clean used one for a lot less than whatever this thing is selling for.

If price isn't your main thing and you just like new then go for it.

JUST IN CASE you don't know how to break in the rings (that's all a new engine breakin requires), read http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Pay particular attention to the warmup; then ride it as if on a race track. Change oil and filter at about 20 to 30 miles of this. Rings are now seated and any rust on the cylinder walls is gone. BINGO ))
