I'm wiping away tears...I mean that...

I'll have to take a ride out to the Bremerton Navy yard and say Hi to the old tub.....I haven't visited her in a while.

You gave an incorrect procedure. Do not cook or smoke the fish. Simply place it under the seat, and, in the fullness of time, you will not be able to detect any sort of of smokey smell at all.

Try some S100 bike wash -- several times on all parts (soft and hard). It gets all oil & grime residues off and does a good job extracting bad smells in the hard to reach places. Make sure the bike is cool first and hose it off VERY well. There may be better ways of getting the "smell" out, but none are as safe on your bike, while it's pricey, for this application the $10-$20 bucks are worth it.

I had some luggage that was smoked out when a tour bus caught fire (burst into flames!) and nothing I tried worked -- it always smelled like a smokehouse without the meaty goodness. My grey matter kicked in and I tried washing it with S100, since it can do amazing stuff on my bike. It got most (not all) of the smell out, and time and an a few extra washings did the rest.

If that doesn't work, check with some of the real auto detailing pros who do hi-end car prep... there may be some magic method/elixir that'll do it.

It's the Phantom's way of saying "Here I am you yellow commie bast@rds. Let's get it on if you think you've got the guts."

The Phantom was one wicked looking aircraft.
