I don't own either bike, have ridden both extensively, so no specific agenda. I'd say if you're the type who wants to buy a bike, do very little modification, doesn't do a lot of interstate cruising or short runs, the Buell would be a good choice (this thing lives for the low and mid-speed twisties). If you like to significantly modify your bikes, ride everything from twisty roads to insterstate to touring to commuting, get the SV. Performance is pretty close to equal, maybe a tiny edge to the SV.

i think the sv650 is the best choice. but if you want to ride it fast, it requires suspension work. at least a gsxr shock in the back and the forks need to be revised by a good suspension guy.

Don't worry, I never make fun of teletubbies.

That fact that you have to compare the bikes is proof enough. Size doesnt matter, but when your larger engine, heavier engine is outgunned buy a used bike that can be purchased for 3 grand - well I think that is all the proof one needs.

Buell Uly

I've got one also. Black by the way, not that prissy yellow. Sure is a fun bike and handles like nothing else.

Not at all. I've toured the Fischer plant, spoken with Dan Fischer and seen the first production unit along with the show bike and the test mule (which has the 1000cc Rotax engine. It's a real motorcycle and is shipping by the end of this month (assuming the schedule holds). The first units are going to CA then to MD (where they are built) and then nationwide.

Apparently he doesn't realize that the AMF built shovelhead isn't in production anymore.

Though oddly enough there's still plenty of them around..and worth more than they were new.
