Jeez, you sound like my mom. If I worried about all those things that you mentioned, I would just quit riding altogether. How about we narrow your 'requirements' to two.

1. Buy the bike that makes your heart go pitty-pat.

2. Ride it.

Pretty simple, eh? Riding is supposed to remove all the bullshyt. KISS.

Looks like your going about things the right way...congratulations on your new "life" with us. I like to poke fun at Harleys and Moto Guzzis, but as long as you ride, it's "all good". For 10k all you get is a sportster (or a Buell) or a beat down Dyna....any MORONS disagree?? Unless it's been dirt-tracked, hardly anyone is going to race/stunt a Sportster. (Who would want to MORONS??)Since even Sportsters hold their value well compared to other makes, a stripped down new one wouldn't be bad. Why can't you change your oil or other simple maint? They have hydraulic valves, so there is no adjustment. (You just bring it in when it breaks!! LOL) Get what you think you want, and then after riding for awhile, you may change your mind. Harleys looks & sound great, but next to my VALK, have no power or ride (unless really modified), just had to get a jab in for HONDA!! Good luck & welcome to the community!!!

lol....wow...couldnt help but laugh at your post. I started commuting about 6mos ago and my list of add ons went from new pipes to an electric vest and gloves really quick. Funny how the need for flash dies very quickly when commuting. Nonetheless....I'm having a blast commuting. If I could do anything differently I would have found a one year old nighthawk 750 instead of the aero 750. I REALLY like my bike but I think I would have LOVED the nighthawk.

You're the one that is living in Chicago. LOL....

yuck yuck.....How about d Bears? When was the last time they made it to the playoffs? Keep praticing those turns on the freeway exit and entrance ramps. God I would hate to live in Chicago. The month I spent in Lincolnshire was like hell... Hot and humid in the summer. Cold, Gray and Icy in the winter. Did I mention flat....Stay away from the salt trucks... he he.

Be careful the GPTB crowd don't like folks who recomend Japanese Standards. Nighthawk has those self-adjusting valves if I remember right. You are sure right about commuting.

Yep Broncos have 5 Superbowl appearances 2 wins. Chargers went once right? kind of like dBears. Chargers need to go back to the baby blue uniforms. The navy blue is a cheap copy of the Broncos..

Believe me, anywhere you aren't is a great place to live.

"God I would hate to live in Chicago."

That makes two of us. I would hate for you to live in Chicago too. That's why they moved Boeing here and YOU stayed there. Get it?

"NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Boeing Co. said Thursday it picked Chicago for its new corporate headquarters, over Dallas and Denver, in a restructuring move aimed at cutting costs and putting its three divisions on a more equal footing.

Boeing (BA: up $0.95 to $65.95, Research, Estimates) CEO Philip Condit said during a press conference at Midway Airport in Chicago Thursday that no one single factor resulted in the choice.

"This is an exciting moment for Boeing. We are in the midst of transforming this company," Condit said. "We're building a Boeing for the future that is growing. It is going to be competitive wherever we go. This transformation is about growth. It's about new products, new services. It's about creating value for our shareholders and creating opportunities for our employees."

In other words, they left morons like you behind in Seattle.
