Why can't we have sensible law makers like that?

Default Life in the P.I.

Can't say much about this article, other than to opine that apparently life there hasn't changed since I was in High School at (ex-)Clark AB.

Suffice it to say that life in the P.I. is like being in an alternate universe.

Things you couldn't make up happen on a regular basis.

35 years ago, when I started riding in Athens, Greece, there was a ban on motorcycles restricting them from riding in the center of the city. In many smaller towns there were traffic restrictions for bikes during noon and night hours, because they were noizy!

Well, nowdays you can do anything you want with a bike: Ride on the sidewalk, ride against traffic, pass a red light, park anywhere.

Sometimes I feel we are overdoing it. But what you say about painting a plate number on your helmet, the situation must be tough. What is next, shooting the guy that didn't stop?

If you catch the guy, take off his helmet.

Default BEWARE YOU MOFOs !

Idiot ignorant legilation : coming soon to a country near you!

There is no safe haven on this one. Being a "emerging worlder" myself (from sunny Brazil) I share the exact same symptoms. This is certainly less of a problem in Malibu, Miami Beach, Daytona or Laguna Seca (Rossi rules, btw) but I am absolutely sure this idea has crossed the minds of some legislators even in the US, if they were confronted with bikes being used to perpetrate crimes.

At least they didn't try to legislate that riding a motorcycle implied consent to have ones organs harvested should things go really wrong, as a New Mexican congressman tried a coupla' years ago.
