A good used bike sounds like the way to go, all right. Thanx.

Geez-man: I too, have had a long hiatus-- twenty years, to be exact. I took my local MSF course and cannot stress how important it is for you to do this course. You will not believe how much you really didn't know in the first place. To wit: 90% of all MC accidents happen to people who are self-taught. TO the bike: I concur with the comments here-- the Honda 750 Nighthawk "feels" like a bike you will understand from the dredges of your primordial hormone-fogged early days. Primary differences: it is smoother than the CB305, sound of body, ridiculously easy to maintain, and has enough guts to do the twisties with geez-paranoic ease. I'm going to ebay for mine (used is a better deal) and will ride it home to Texas. Bugs and all. Later, when I get the hang of things again, its off to 1150RT land for some serious touring. Told my wife it was either the bike or a 20-yr-old stripper. She figured the bike would be more achievable at my age
Good luck, Greystone |

Hey Geez,
Just got back online, so this maybe too late. I think you ought to look at this bike as a temporary, not your lasting choice. You should get a bike that is small, easy to ride, dependable, and used. Get your feet wet, learn what you like and don't like, and use your new found bike legs to test ride a more permanent mount. I found that my old bones (other side of 50) don't like the extreme saddle positions of a lot of bikes, so be sure to check the ergos. Welcome back to the wonderful world of 2 wheels!! |
