I would have thought the GSXR1000 in stock form would smoke the RC51. I haven't ridden either so don't know for sure - is there someone who can confirm the truth?

Why is the XX above the 1000 gsxr? There is a video in the archives, or there was a video of a 1000 gsxr going over 180mph... the xx simply wont do it... according to Mo's articles... (the evidence here is irrefutable)... am i wrong MO???

These lists cannot be accurate. There isn't one Harley Davidson on it. Highwayman needs to set you all straight!

So when does "The Highwayman" chime in with the horrible stench rice makes when it burns?

Heheheh. Sorry. I had to do it.

Default RC 51 ain't in the top 5

Much as I like my RC 51, it is not even close to this group, even slightly modified it is only good for about 160-165 MPH. You need lots of RWHP to go fast and at about 120 HP the RC is about 20 short of consideration. The ZX 9 (like the RC) gets some extra from the ram air and the dyno does not show this.

I think you will find the top five are approximately as follows:

1(and 2). Hayabusa/ZX12R depending on what year model is under consideration. (194MPH)

3. GSXR 1000-could possibly be the fastest of them all with some mods for this purpose. (est 183 MPH)

4. Honda CBR1100 XX (179MPH)

5. Kawasaki ZX9R (172 MPH) or ZX 11 (176MPH)

I am a victim of my own decadence and currently keep a '99 ZX9R, '99 R1 and the RC 51 in the garage. The Kawasaki is the fastest of this trio (stock to slightly moded) when it comes to going wfo. The ZX 9 does however seem to be more sensitive to density altitude changes whereas the R1 does not. Your speed may vary. The RC is just slower. I live outside of Savannah, GA on the coastal plain and ride at altitudes from sea level to about 6,000 feet amsl.

Having said this, I will be taking my R1 to Daytona for the Team Hamer track day if that is worth anything.
